Rare 8.5" Antique Chinese Doll - Carved Wooden Head, Hands, Feet & Parasol.
Genuinely rare, early 20th century antique Chinese doll, standing at a child-scale height of 8-1/2".
This historical and unique piece represents a young schoolboy or child and exhibits premium craftsmanship features including a fully removable carved wooden head with braided hair on a peg (easily inserted in the neck area), carved pearwood hands with distinct fingers, detailed carved shoes that articulate with movement on the stand.Every thing is intact, including the blue silk and cotton costume, displaying appropriate age patina and wear consistent with 100 year old textiles. The painted face remains clean and sharp.
Truly an exquisite piece of Chinese art to add to any collection.
One appraiser has told me this was a Chinese Doll of Hope. Due to questions about accuracy of this description, I have revised my description, however the antiquity and unique features about this doll are not in question. This is a rare find!
