Cheyenne Corp started in 1974 by Phillip Hoffman. The first orders came from Japanese blade maker Seigo Kanematsu. But the company had to change his name and Rebrand to Lakota after finding out Schrade knives already had a knife in its product line called Cheyenne and created a trademark and copyright issue.
