Rare 1956-1958 Wire Frame/Wire Jack Hawkbill knife by Boker USA For Sale

Rare 1956-1958 Wire Frame/Wire JackHawkbill knife by Boker USA
This is an unusual knife, based on a 1914 US patent, called a wire frame or a wire jack folding knife. It is simple in construction with a 2-inch hawkbill carbon steel blade and only three additional parts. This model is also referred to as a Safety Pruner knife (due to the hawkbill blade). It was made and sold by Boker USA. The blade is marked with BOKER USA. There is a steel sleeve affixed to the wire frame to offer a little protection to your fingers when you close the blade. There is no nail nick, but opens and closes well. Does not have a backspring like a regular folding knife. This knife design was made popular by the Geo. Schrade company from the 1920s to the mid-1950s. Boker USA bought the Geo. Schrade company in 1956 and took over production of its knives until 1958.There is some paint loss on the safety sleeve and the wire frame one side seems a little compressed, but the knife works just fine.Overall the blade is very shiny with minimal surface scratches.Overall open length is 5-5/8 inches. Blade cutting edge is about 2 inches. Extemely light at about 1.5 ounces.A perfect blade for your knife collection.
