Rare vintage Barr Manufacturing Corporation numeric/direct-reading clock, manufactured in Weedsport, New York. This unusual early digital-style clock features rotating numbered drums that display the time through a rectangular window in the front of the wooden case.
Believed to date to the 1940s, Barr numeric clocks are an uncommon early form of mechanical/electromechanical digital time display and are considerably harder to find than traditional dial clocks.
Features include:
* Original wooden mantel/desk clock case
* Three rotating black number drums with cream-colored numerals
* Original internal mechanism and drive components
* Original Barr Manufacturing Corporation instruction label still attached to the underside
* Manufacturer identified as Barr Manufacturing Corporation, Weedsport, New York
* Unusual early direct-reading/numeric clock design
Clock shows age-related wear, scratches, scuffs and finish wear consistent with its age. The original paper instruction label underneath has significant wear and loss but remains identifiable.
Untested and being sold as-is. I have not attempted to service, lubricate or disassemble the mechanism. Please review all photographs carefully for condition, completeness and additional details.
A scarce piece of early American electric clock history and an excellent addition to a collection of vintage clocks, early digital displays, industrial design or mid-century technology.
