For sale is an extremely rare, original business card belonging to Dr. Ante Pavelić, dating back to his early career as a lawyer in Zagreb. Unlike common WWII-era items, this piece dates to September 8th, 1922, providing a unique glimpse into his life before the formation of the NDH.Front Side:
- Printed text: \"DR ANTE PAVELIĆ – ODVJETNIK\" (Lawyer) and \"ZAGREB\".
- Handwritten notation: Dated \"8/9. 1922\" with a location abbreviation \"Zgb\" (Zagreb).
Reverse Side (Handwritten Note):
The back contains a full, handwritten message in Croatian, addressed to a \"Mr. Deputy\" (Gospodine poslaniče), organizing a secret meeting with a \"Mr. R.\" at a local hotel. It is signed at the bottom: \"S veleštovanjem, Pavelić\" (With great respect, Pavelić).Condition:
The card shows authentic signs of age, including slight paper toning and minor edge wear consistent with a 100-year-old document. The ink remains clear and legible.Historical Significance:
Items from Pavelić’s \"lawyer phase\" in the early 1920s are significantly harder to find than later propaganda materials. This is a primary source document reflecting the political networking in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
