This is an antique real photo postcard from about 1910–1920. It\'s a studio portrait made by Roger\'s Studio, 64A Cumberland St. S., Port Arthur, Ontario (Phone 1125). The studio\'s imprint runs up the left side of the back.
The portrait shows an older girl seated in an ornate carved and wicker parlor chair. She has curly hair with a large striped bow and wears a drop-waist dress with a pleated skirt, a wide pale tie and tall lace-up boots. A young boy with a bowl haircut stands beside her with one hand on a scrolled wicker chair. He wears a dark belted jacket with a white pocket square, knee pants and laced boots. The painted studio backdrop and the period clothing make this a fine example of early 20th-century Canadian children\'s portraiture.
The back is a \"Victor\" Postal divided back with a \"Stamp here\" box. It was never mailed and has no stamp or postmark. It\'s addressed in pencil to \"Mr. Arvo Salmi, Conmee, Ont.\" Conmee is a township west of Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay) with a strong Finnish settler community. There\'s also a short handwritten message in Finnish in the left panel. This makes the card a nice piece for collectors of Finnish-Canadian history, Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario local history, and antique children\'s photography.
The card measures about 3.5\" x 5.5\", standard postcard size.

Condition:Used antique condition consistent with age. On the front, a crease runs across the upper right of the image, with light surface creasing along the top edge. There\'s some silvering and scuffing on the photographic surface, and a small crease near the lower left edge. The corners are rounded and softened with edge wear. The image itself is still clear and well defined. On the back, there\'s overall toning, scattered foxing spots, light soiling and minor bends along the bottom edge. The original pencil address and message are present, and there\'s an old pencil price notation in the upper right corner. No tears or missing pieces observed.
