Original antique cabinet card photo of Helen Frances “Fanny” Garrison Villard (December 16, 1844 – July 5, 1928), a women\'s suffrage leader, activist, and co-founder of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Villard was the daughter of the famous publisher and abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison, later marrying the railroad tycoon Henry Villard. This photo of her was taken in Germany. There is an 1886 date on the back, so I\'d say this photo was taken around then, up until the early-1890s... just about 30 years after the famous photo of her with her father.
Included with the cabinet card is an original newspaper clipping announcing her death in 1928. The back of this cabinet card is signed; as of this moment I haven\'t been able to find an example of Villard\'s signature to see if it matches, but I\'m sure there\'s one out there.
The cabinet card measures 6.5\" x 4.25\". It\'s in good antique condition overall with foxing, light/normal soiling. In the upper right corner of the image is a horizontal crease about 1.5\" long, and that corner is lightly bumped.
