[ An ambitious 350-foot marble obelisk designed by sculptor Charles Keck that was proposed as a permanent memorial for Thomas Edison in West Orange. While this grand monument featuring two huge hands holding a light globe was never fully realized as described, Edison's legacy is honored through other major landmarks: Thomas Alva Edison Memorial Tower (Menlo Park, New Jersey): A different Art Deco memorial was actually completed in 1938 at the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park (New Jersey)This 131-foot concrete tower is topped by the world's largest lightbulb constructed of 3 tons of Pyrex glass. Final Resting Place: Although Edison was initially buried in a temporary grave at Rosedale Cemetery in West Orange, he and his wife Mina were exhumed in 1963. They are now permanently interred in a simple gravesite at their former estate, Glenmont, (New Jersey) which is part of the Thomas Edison National Historical Park in New Jersey. The Architect's Legacy: Sculptor Charles Keck did contributed to Edison's memory elsewhere, including a notable bronze statue located at the Edison National Historical Park.]

$2,000,000 MAUSOLEUM AND MEMORIAL TOWER ,THAT IS
TO BE ERECTED AT EAGLE ROCK,N.J., WHICH JUTS OUT
FROM THE ORANGE MOUNTAINS AND OVERLOOKS THE GREAT-
ER PART OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY.
THE PLANS CALL FOR A MARBLE OBELISK, 350 FEET IN
HEIGHT, WHICH TAPERS OFF INTO THE OUTLINES OF TWO
HUGE HANDS HOLDING AN INCANDESCENT LIGHT GLOBE, TO
SYMBOLIZE THE INVENTOR LIGHTING THE WORLD. AT THE
BASE OF THE OBELISK IS TO BE A BRONZE STATUE OF
EDISON AND BEHIND THE MEMORIAL THERE WILL BE A
LANDSCAPED PARK. THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE A PERMAN-
ENT RESTING PLACE FOR THE REMAINS OF THE INVENTOR,
WHICH NOW REPOSE IN A TEMPORARY GRAVE IN ROSEDALE
CEMETERY, WEST ORANGE N.J. THE INTERNATIONAL
EDISON FOUNDATION WILL DIRECT CONSTRUCTION OF THE
MEMORIAL, AND CHARLES KECK, N..Y. IS SCULPTOR.
FUNDS FOR THE PROJECT WILL BE RAISED BY SUBSCRIP-
