This Dr. Grabow was saved for the longest time in my old collection due to the rarity of this shape. I’ve only ever seen it a couple times and never in this nice condition. If you’re a collector, this is a great choice. It did not come to me cheap and I have time into this piece so price is firm as always.
It comes from a limited run of shapes called the Continental series and this was shape 25 which I located from vintage charts. It’s a really nice Cherrywood shape (shape name, not wood type) under the Starfire series and stamped with the Ajustomatic stampings as well. The Ajustomatic system does still work and I love it. I only wish Kaywoodie had done this too beyond some test runs.
The pipe shows some really beautiful, tightly grouped birds-eye grain in a beautiful color. Some of the best pipes I had by Grabow was in the Starfire series.
I fully restored this pipe a few years ago with hours into it. The vulcanite stem is a deep, smooth black with no chatter or oxidation and treated with Obsidian Oil. The pipe was cleaned inside and out, gently buffed to bring out the original stain, remove any oils and old wax etc. I applied a coupe coats of carnauba and hand buffed it.
It’s in pretty good condition overall, better than most other. There’s some fading to portions of the stamping but mostly all there, always change for small handling marks though I noted none. Take a good look at all the photos for condition and see the zoomed in photos to check out that grain too. Always check dimensions as well to ensure it’s the size pipe you’re wanting.

At a minimum, I do everything possible to make sure the pipe is at its best and packaged well. All pipes are carefully inspected, cleaned, gently buffed, waxed with Carnauba and the stems are hand polished and oiled as needed. For a decade, I’ve put all I have into these pipes, packaging and more. I really enjoy it and my fellow hobbyists.
