RARE 1930s Mickey Mouse Gauze Linen Mask Walt Disney Collectible Vintage Antique For Sale

RARE EARLY MICKEY MOUSE GAUZE/LINEN MASK — POSSIBLY 1930s

Offered here is a very rare early Mickey Mouse costume/mask, constructed from gauze/linen material and featuring the distinctive early Mickey Mouse character design.

This is an unusual and highly collectible piece of early Disneyana. Early Mickey Mouse masks from the 1930s are considerably scarcer than later plastic and rubber Halloween masks, and surviving examples are rarely found in this type of original condition.

IMPORTANT INTERIOR MARKING

One of the most interesting features of this mask is the faint red ink marking on the interior.

The marking is partially worn and difficult to read completely. I am not claiming that every portion of the stamp can be definitively deciphered. However, research into comparable early Mickey Mouse masks has located documented examples from approximately the same period bearing interior ink/patent markings associated with Walt Disney.

A specialist dealer’s documented example of an early linen Mickey Mouse mask describes a red interior ink patent stamp and notes that the word “Walt” remains visible. Another documented pair of approximately 1935 German Mickey Mouse masks is described as having patent stamps identifying them with Walt E. Disney.

I have included multiple close-up photographs of the interior marking so that collectors can examine it for themselves.

AGE

I believe this mask dates to approximately the 1930s, based on its construction, character design, materials, and the early interior marking.

CONDITION

This is an old, fragile vintage/antique item and shows the expected signs of age and previous use.

There may be discoloration, staining, surface wear, fading, small imperfections, age-related deterioration and/or other condition issues consistent with an extremely old costume mask.

I have intentionally not cleaned, restored, repainted, or otherwise altered the mask.
