RARE 1887 Scottish Rite 33° Masonic Certificate Buchanan Codding Webber Signed For Sale

Outstanding antique Scottish Rite Masonic certificate/diploma from the Supreme Council, 33°, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, issued to John L. Hall, a member associated with Bloomsburg and later documented as a charter member of the Scottish Rite bodies in the Valley of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The engraved certificate appears to date to 1887 and is especially interesting because the margins and reverse contain numerous later 33° Scottish Rite signatures, including several important Masonic figures.

Signatures identified or strongly attributed include:

* James Isaac Buchanan, 33° – prominent Pennsylvania Scottish Rite leader

* James H. Codding, 33° – Grand Secretary-General of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction

* Frederick Webber, 33° – Grand Secretary-General, Southern Jurisdiction

* James B. Krause, 33° – Williamsport Commander-in-Chief and later Grand Master of Pennsylvania

* John G. Hess – Williamsport Grand Secretary

* Numerous additional 33° signatures from Pennsylvania and other Scottish Rite bodies

Several handwritten inscriptions are dated March 1903, including references to Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, suggesting that Hall carried the document and collected signatures from fellow high-ranking Scottish Rite members.

Also included is the original black leather folding case/wallet decorated with a gold Scottish Rite emblem.

The certificate features detailed engraved Masonic imagery, embossed seals, the double-headed eagle of the Supreme Council, and extensive period handwriting.

Condition: Antique condition with original folds, toning, edge wear, handwriting, and age-related wear. Leather case shows surface wear and crazing. Please study all photos carefully, as they are an important part of the description.

A very unusual early Scottish Rite piece combining a 19th-century certificate, documented Williamsport charter-member provenance, original case, and a substantial group of 33° autographs.

Amos H. Hall, 33° – Listed as P.M.C. Philadelphia Consistory (Past Most Wise Master or Commander). He later served as the Grand Treasurer General for the Supreme Council.

Frederic M. Webber, 33° (or Frederick Webber) – Noted here as Secty Genl of the S.J. USA (Supreme Council for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States).

James Isaac Buchanan, 33° – One of the most famous Pennsylvania Masons of the era. He served as the Deputy for Pennsylvania in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Supreme Council.

Henry Williams, 33° – Accompanied by Phila (Philadelphia), indicating his home consistory.

John Walterhouse, 33° – Annotated with "Harrisburg, Pa. March 25th 1903".James H. Codding, 33° – A massive figure in American Freemasonry who served as the Grand Secretary General for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.

Thos. D. Finletter, 33° – Famous Philadelphia jurist, judge, and active Scottish Rite member.

Edward S. Wyckoff, 33° – Later served as the Grand Lieutenant Commander for the Supreme Council.

William J. Muckle, 33° – Signed with Philadelphia notation.Americus V. Holmes, 33° – Prominent Pittsburgh Mason. Below his name is an inscription reading: "Grand Comdr of A.A.S. Rite Bodies, Valley of Pittsburgh, Mar 26th 1903, Pa."
