“The Divinity School Address”

Cambridge, July 15, 1838.This is a 24-page stapled pamphlet reprinting a speech by the legendary philosopher, poet and lecturer, Ralph Waldo Emerson. It was published as “Memorable Sermons, No. 9,” by the American Unitarian Association.The pamphlet is undated, but was probably published around 1900. The inside front cover includes several Unitarian declarations, with one made in 1894. The inside back cover features descriptions of the American Unitarian Assn., and two books published by the organization.The pamphlet measures 4.8x7.2 inches in size. Unfortunately, it is in mediocre condition, with its covers almost detached from the rest of the booklet, and with an ugly narrow stain along 3 inches of the border of each page (see photos below).
