Offered is a pair of 12 1/2” tall hand painted bisque porcelain figurines made in Italy in the Sixties by Pucci. They are a variation on the Victorian courting couples theme. Instead of a well-to-do, upper class English couple, here we have a shy, demure rustic Italian country couple, both with a dreamy look on their faces. The bottom of each figurine is marked with an “S”, which was used by Puccini on this type of figurine, but apparently the factory omitted the 4 numerals after the “S”, as the mark probably should have been S8632. The colors are soft pastels, ivory, flesh, blush for the couples and rose and green for the flowers and vegetation. Both figurines are complete and in good condition, and are a fine example of Pucci’s art and Italian pottery.
