A remarkable pristine condition WWI 'The Gallipoli Letter Card Souvenir' by J.W. Rogers AIF.
They were produced in 1918 and 1919, and this is guaranteed to be a genuine original example.
It was brought back home by a returning soldier in 1919 without ever being used
The family then stored it between the pages of a large hardcover book, where it remained for the next 100 years!
That's how it survived in such incredible condition, protected from any damage or fading caused by sunlight.
As you can see in the photos, the paper still retains all of the original pink colour and bold red text.
It wasn't used in any way, so there is no writing inside and the envelope wasn't sealed.
It has all of the original envelope gum intact inside the front cover.
The original staple is good and holding the pages in place, only showing a small amount of rust.
Only the very last white page inside has some light foxing. every other page is clean with no foxing or discolouration.
It's truly amazing that it has survived this well. The paper stock they used to produce them was low quality to save on costs, which made them extremely fragile and very quick to fade. They definitely weren't made to last for over 100 years!
I don't think you could find one in better condition than this, that still looks like it did in 1918.
It's a museum grade example!
I will pack it as carefully as possible to ensure the edges are protected and it can't be bent. Will be packed in a box to keep it safe. The postage cost includes Express and Signature on Delivery for extra security.
