Primitive Guro Wood Animal Mask From Ivory COAST. For Sale

The bovin̈e character of this simply designed animal mask suggest that a farmer may have carved it. Lightly, but simply carved, it is decorated with black and off-white pigment. It would likely have been used for entertainment at social celebrations and festivals. It measures 15.5 x 7 x 5 inches. It was acquired by a discerning collector of African ethnographic art in the early to mid 2980s.
