Description: This card shows Half Way Rock, a large boulder alongside a wooded dirt road leading to the beach in Quonochontaug, Rhode Island. Large glacial erratic boulders flank both sides of the tree-lined lane, giving a sense of the rural coastal character of this small Washington County community. Quonochontaug is a barrier beach community on the south shore of Rhode Island, and early road views like this have strong local historical interest.

Message reads: \"Thursday a.m. Rochester — 7:30 — Here just arrived. Had lunch & ready for a run — B. [?] perfectly well & happy. Train was very late. Got ready about 2:30 a.m. Fine day — W. & how can\'t [?]\" Sender\'s name not fully legible. The recipient, Capt. G. F. Jenks, was stationed at Frankford Arsenal, a U.S. Army ordnance facility in Philadelphia.
