Podmore Walker mulberry Washington vase pattern gravy. Circa 1830s - 1850s. Good size. 7 1/2” long x 5” high. Very good antique condition. Made in old Staffordshire England. Mulberry, or flow black,is a beautiful design that was made during these years. Podmore and Walker name leading the way. They both had passed by 1860. Enoch Wedgwood, who was a 3rd partner, since 1835.,took over,,he would change the name to Wedgwood & co. That company would be around as Unicorn, until 1980. Good run. Good products.No cracks, repairs, crazing.Tiny flea bite, photo 2, top rim. Very small, old, smoothed over. One tiny bubble burst during production, side, 4th photo. hard to see, pin size, common in these mulberry’s glaze. Quite clean inside as well. Amazing these can last so long.
This is from estate sale in Maine. These gravy boats are not seen very often. Not many left. Would be perfect as a gift or use for fall decor. It is both Gothic and traditional in its appeal. Often used for moodiness of fall. These pieces have a natural mystery feel about them, being around so long.
