Believed to be original from the Penobscot tribe located in the NE (Maine).
The handle transitions into a beautifully carved shaft featuring intricate, hand-incised geometric patterns, including diamond, chevron, and crosshatched designs. A particularly unique detail is a small, carefully carved leaf or branch motif located on a smooth, sanded oval patch just below the knotty head.
