This exquisite collector's piece is exquisitely painted using traditional egg tempera techniques and genuine gold leaf trim over a dense, durable papier-mâché base.Design & Subject:
The lid features a highly complex, multicentered narrative painting of the classic Slavic fairy tale,"Twelve Months"("Двенадцать месяцев"). The artwork depicts the legendary forest campfire scene showing a young stepdaughter surrounded by the 11 personified months of the year, dressed in vibrant traditional garb [Dl7KbI]. The detailing is incredibly precise, from the intricate flora highlights to the luminous fire element. The artwork is framed beautifully with classic Palekh gold scrollwork scrolling down the borders.Artist Information:
This box was hand-painted by the registered Palekh miniature artistS. Poliakova(С. Полякова). Artists from the Palekh school undergo five years of intensive formal schooling to master the multi-layer brushwork (plavi) and gold detailing inherited directly from centuries of Russian icon-painting heritage. This piece showcases Poliakova's mastery of structural human proportions and dynamic group composition.Signatures & Markings:
