I am offering a mismatched pair of vintage metal candlesticks with tall turned forms, heavily aged painted finishes and wonderful old surface character.
The taller candlestick has a dark burgundy-brown finish and an elaborate stacked-column design with fluted and rounded details. The shorter holder has a muted mustard-green finish with a long fluted body, shaped candle cup and broad circular base. The bottoms show metal construction.
These are not a factory-matched pair, but their contrasting heights, colors and shapes work beautifully together. They have a strong primitive, folk art, rustic farmhouse, cottagecore and old-world decorative look.
Approximate Measurements
Taller candlestick: approximately 11½ inches tall
Shorter candlestick: approximately 9½ inches tall
Taller base: approximately 4 inches across
Shorter base: approximately 3½ inches across
Condition
Both candlesticks have substantial age-related wear and are being offered in their naturally aged condition.
Condition includes:
Heavy wear, fading and discoloration to the painted finishes
Scuffs, scratches, dark marks and surface grime
Oxidation and aged patina
Paint loss and rubbed edges
Wear and residue inside the candle sockets
Minor dents, irregularities and surface imperfections
General evidence of long use and storage
I have not repainted, polished or heavily cleaned them. Their worn surfaces and uneven coloring are an important part of their primitive decorative character.
These old metal candlesticks carry the quiet beauty of years of use, two individually collected pieces now ready to share a mantel, table or shelf once again.
