Matched pair of vintage U.S. military gold oak-leaf officer rank insignia manufactured by H-H / Hilborn-Hamburger and marked 1/20 10K G.F. and SER. 135.
Each insignia measures approximately 1 inch from the tip of the center leaf to the end of the stem and approximately 15/16 inch across at the widest point. Both feature a raised, veined seven-point oak-leaf design with two rear mounting posts.
Official U.S. Marine Corps uniform regulations describe the Lieutenant Colonel oak-leaf insignia as a seven-pointed, raised and veined oak leaf measuring 1 inch from the stem tip to the center leaf tip, and specify that a Major wears a gold-colored oak leaf of the same type.
The approximately 1-inch height and seven-point veined construction of these insignia closely correspond to that official specification.
The gold oak leaf is used as the rank device for Major, pay grade O-4, in the U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Air Force, and for the corresponding Lieutenant Commander rank in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
