Pair Antique Mid 1860s Hand Painted Russian 15” Burnt Orange Opaline Glass Vases For Sale

Set of 2 antique mid 1860s hand painted Russian 15” burnt orange opaline glass vases. Gilt trim accents at rim, base, around finely detailed cameos as well as in the cameo scenes. Weight: approximately 4lbs each vase. Burnt orange color is slightly varied on each as shown in the main photo. One vase (lighter color) has damage to the base, has been reattached (photos 22-24) and will not hold water. There are no visible makers marks. Areas of wear are present due to age but overall in nice condition. History of these vases is based on world travel. Living on the island of Corfu in Greece, the grandmother of a relative who is now 90, performed as a child playing piano for the family of visiting Russian diplomats, as Greece was under British rule by this time. The child’s family refused payment for her performance so she was gifted these vases by the family of the visiting Russian diplomats as a thank you. I list these as Russian since that was the source but not sure if that’s accurate. These vases were treasured by the recipients family and brought with the move to the United States 60+ years ago.
