This is an original pair of cavalry duck canvas chevrons worn by a Cavalry Sergeant during the Spanish-American War in 1899 especially during the occupation of Cuba’s occupation ears.
This duck material was utilized and unique to the M1899 khaki uniform from the common felt material.
