Perry Hodge of Warsaw, NY began advertising his level in 1850 as “Hodge’s Graduated Spirit Level”. This 30 inch example remains in very good original condition with a full working vial, and also retains both of its rarely encountered original end sights. Belief is, Frederick Traut and Stanley basically stole Hodge’s design for the Stanley No. 32 inclinometer. A great pre-Civil War inclinometer.
