​Original WWII / Cold War Bulgarian M1936 (M36) Type C Steel Helmet – Flared Edge with Original Liner

​Up for sale is an original Bulgarian M1936 (M36) steel combat helmet. This specific shell features the flared, raw bottom edge characteristic of the Type C variant. Introduced in the late 1930s, these helmets saw extensive use with the Bulgarian military during World War II and into the postwar era.

​Condition & Features:

• ​Shell Exterior: The steel shell retains much of its light olive-green paint. It displays authentic field wear, including scratches, scuffs, and prominent surface rust and heavy oxidation that is heavily concentrated on the top crown of the helmet.

• ​Hardware: The external ventilation grommets and liner retention rivets remain completely intact on the shell.

• ​Interior & Liner: Unlike many surviving shells, this helmet retains its original leather liner and chinstrap system. However, the leather components are in a heavily deteriorated state, showing significant cracking, stiffness, and a whitish surface residue from long-term storage, moisture, and age.

• ​Inner Shell: Surface rust and patina are also visible along the inner rim and exposed metal areas of the interior shell.
