Offered here is a well-documented complete individual of the classic Odessa iron meteorite from Ector County, Texas. This is a genuine crater-forming iron (IAB-MG) recovered from the historic Odessa Meteor Crater site, first recognized in 1922.

This specimen shows a natural weathered exterior with visible regmaglypts and the typical bronze-to-rust patina associated with unrecovered Odessa individuals. The hand-painted UNM collection number is clearly visible on the surface. Both original identification cards are included and match the specimen.
Odessa is one of the most important historic iron meteorites from the United States and one of the few confirmed crater-forming irons with recovered material still available to collectors. Hunting at the crater is no longer permitted, making well-provenanced institutional specimens increasingly desirable.
This piece comes from the Institute of Meteoritics at the University of New Mexico and carries strong dual provenance through the Aerolite Meteorites card.
