OUTSTANDING Railway RAILROAD Rubber Ink Stamp CITIES COLLECTION ANTIQUE TAYLOR For Sale

This 150 pc. collection of city and town stamps is an incredible piece of railroad history! These are station waybill or route stamps, which ticket agents and freight clerks used at a centralized hub to stamp documents, shipping manifests, and baggage tags. The numbers printed next to some of the cities (like FOSTORIA, O. 11 or DELAWARE, O. 10) typically corresponded to specific station codes, route numbers, or regional tariff zones used by the railroad network to calculate shipping rates and track cargo destinations.Given the heavy concentration of Ohio, Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania towns visible , these stamps almost certainly belonged to one of the major trunk lines dominating the Rust Belt region, such as the New York Central Railroad (NYC) or the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway (famously known as the "Big Four" Railroad
They were made by Taylor Brothers Cleveland most likely in the 40s or 50s. Their mark is on ONE of the stamps. There is no buy it now available for this sale. Due to the size of this lot, there can be no returns.
