One of the most recognizable patterns in American pressed glass, Moon and Star has been produced over the decades in an extraordinary range of colors and finishes. But there is one combination you won\'t find among the original production colors: lavender satin.
I began with a vintage clear Moon and Star pedestal compote and individually transformed it into this soft, translucent lavender satin creation using The Gathered Light’s proprietary cold color process.
While Moon and Star was produced in several satin colors, lavender satin was not an original production color. Purple and amethyst versions of the pattern can be found in transparent and glossy finishes, but not in this distinctive softly frosted lavender treatment.
The result is a one-of-one Gathered Light creation—an iconic vintage glass form reimagined in a color-and-finish combination that was never part of the original Moon and Star production palette.
The satin treatment is especially beautiful on this pattern. It softens the large oval “moon” medallions while emphasizing the deeply pressed starbursts and dimensional details. And because the glass remains translucent, its appearance changes dramatically with its surroundings: in natural daylight it reads as a soft, misty lavender, while lower light deepens the color toward violet. Warm light passing through the glass brings out striking golden highlights.
A note about the photographs: The photos show the actual compote lit and unlit, in daylight and at dusk to demonstrate how the lavender satin finish responds to different lighting conditions. The variations you see are part of the character of the piece—not different color treatments.

Care: Decorative use only. To preserve the finish, clean gently with a damp cloth only. Do not soak or submerge, place in a dishwasher, or use abrasive or chemical cleaners.
