Europa (built in 1930) and the S.S. Columbus (built in 1923) - as named on label. The Bremen was a famous, large and fast ship - In 1929 setting a speed record crossing the Atlantic. Thealso famous, large and fast Europa was to break the westbound Atlantic crossing record in 1930.In WW ll the Bremen eluded interception but was gutted by fire in 1942. The Europa remained in German ports throughout the war and then was turned over to the French Government as reparation in 1946 and renamed Liberte. At the outset of the war, the Columbus was intercepted by the British and scuttled by the crew to avoid capture.
