New Our Lady of the Desert Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Handmade Silver Rosary For Sale

Sleeping Beauty turquoise is one of the most beloved and recognizable varieties of turquoise in the world — prized for its vibrant blue color, rarity, and timeless appeal. The name “Sleeping Beauty” comes from the shape of a mountain near Globe, Arizona, where the turquoise was originally mined. Locals say the mountain profile looks just like a woman lying on her back — peacefully asleep. When turquoise was discovered there, the mine took on the same name, and so did the gemstone. Unlike other types of turquoise that feature heavy matrix or veining, Sleeping Beauty turquoise is celebrated for its solid robin’s egg blue color and clean, smooth appearance. It doesn\'t require stabilization or dyes — its natural clarity and richness speak for themselves. The Sleeping Beauty mine officially closed in 2012, which means no new turquoise is being produced from this location. This has made existing stones more valuable — especially those already set in handcrafted jewelry. In paintings, Mary is traditionally portrayed in blue. This tradition can trace its origin to the Byzantine Empire, from c. AD 500, when blue was \"the color of an empress.\" This now extraordinarily rare Sleeping Beauty turquoise precious gemstone was hand-selected for this Our Lady of the Desert rosary, as the unique robin’s egg blue tone from deep in the Arizona earth feels of Our Blessed Mother’s Marian blue has been glorified by the radiance of the high desert sun and prayerful devotion to God. When I first saw these beads, I felt immediately called to them, as they embody such a powerful symbolism of Mary as how Saint Bonaventure described her immanent love as the Gate of Heaven. These Hail Mary beads are 10mm in diameter, and the Our Father beads are 12mm matte white agate semi-precious gemstone, giving great prayerful depth in the hand. This beautifully handcrafted wire rosary also features a 100% sterling silver Blessed Virgin Mary & Sacred Heart of Jesus centerpiece medal, ancient shell adornments, and Cross. The selected wire itself is 100% silver tone brass, chosen for its greater hardness and durability than silver for daily handling in prayer. The subtle silver toning of the wire gives this rosary an heirloom quality, vintage feel for many generations of prayer. This handcrafted five decade Our Lady of the Desert rosary was made to accompany you in this life of prayer, devotion, and Divine Love as, through our lives we return ever closer and deeper to our home in God. I made this rosary myself. Love from Sedona.
