Nestlé 1953 Hot Chocolate Advertising Tin w/Lid & Sweet Milk Cocoa Crema Box For Sale

This vintage red Nestlé’s Hot Chocolate counter tin was manufactured in 1953.
It was originally designed as a store display piece to hold individually portioned envelopes of hot cocoa mix, allowing customers to easily pull packets from the soda fountain counter. These tins were originally used as high-volume retail display boxes on soda fountain and grocery store counters. When a store owner needed to reorder it would typically arrive in a cardboard box that would be dropped into the tin. The box insert also added stability to the product by giving it something to stand up on vs. sliding on the tin bottom. Shopkeepers typically threw the thin cardboard liners away once the individual hot chocolate packets were sold out. Finding one that survived decades without rotting or being discarded is highly uncommon and a great find. Both pieces are in vintage, preowned condition and show age-related wear. The metal tin has scratches, scuffs, paint loss, discoloration, dents, and surface wear. Please note that the metal lid is no longer “hinged” it sits on the tin. The cardboard box has edge wear, creasing, staining, and areas of paper loss. Please review all pics as they are part of the description
