HISTORY
Back in 1910 Roseville, Ohio, the Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Company was formed by Nelson McCoy and his father J.W. McCoy.
Not only did they produce a large variety of stoneware, they dealt in the actual clay and sold to potteries around the area for a number of years. During the depression through the formation of a co-op, many of the pottery companies joined forces to share resources, which is why many American pottery pieces from this era look so similar.
Throughout the almost 100 years they were in business a McCoy was always leading the company – down through 4 generations. In 1990, with competition from over-seas ready-made items,
Nelson McCoy shut their doors and ceased operation.
