Bill Rabbit (1946–2012) was a self-taught Cherokee artist celebrated for his vibrant, ethereal, and contemporary approach to Native American art.Early Life & Military Service: Born in Wyoming and raised in Oklahoma, Rabbit demonstrated artistic talent as a child. Though accepted to the Institute of American Indian Arts, he chose to enlist in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War.
Career & Style: After returning from service, he settled in Oklahoma and pursued art full-time. Breaking away from traditional, flat-style Native art, Rabbit embraced bold colors, flowing lines, and dreamlike compositions that evolved from realism to fluid, spiritual expression.
Honors & Collaboration: Designated a Master Artist by the Five Civilized Tribes Museum and named a Cherokee National Treasure, he exhibited widely nationwide. Later in his career, he worked alongside his daughter, artist Traci Rabbit, out of their studio in Pryor, Oklahoma.Approx. size is 9"wide x 6" tall.
