We are proud to offer an extraordinary tooth attributed to Chenanisaurus barbaricus, an extremely rare abelisaurid theropod from the Late Cretaceous of Morocco.
Tooth size: approximately 3.6 cm (1.42 inches)
This is an exceptional collector-grade specimen. As professional fossil dealers working directly with fossil excavation teams in Morocco, we encounter a large amount of fossil material, but finding a Chenanisaurus tooth preserved in this remarkable condition is extremely difficult.
The tooth is NOT repaired. It retains a beautifully preserved natural crown, an excellent sharp tip, superb enamel, and remarkably complete serrated cutting edges. The serrations remain visible along the carina with virtually no significant damage.
The overall preservation, natural coloration, shape and surface detail make this an outstanding display specimen.
About Chenanisaurus
Chenanisaurus barbaricus was a large predatory abelisaurid dinosaur that lived in what is now Morocco during the latest Cretaceous, approximately 66 million years ago, very close to the end of the age of non-avian dinosaurs.
It is known from the Ouled Abdoun Basin of Morocco, and its fossil remains are considerably rarer than the more commonly encountered Moroccan marine reptiles and shark fossils.
High-quality, confidently identified Chenanisaurus teeth are particularly sought after by serious dinosaur fossil collectors, and specimens combining large size, a complete tip, excellent enamel and preserved serrations are especially difficult to obtain.
