Authentic Antique Japanese Indigo Katazome Boro Textile Fabric 57.25\" x 13.5\"
Description:
This authentic vintage Japanese indigo-dyed fabric is very old. Perfect as the foundation for a scarf, garment panel, or patchwork project, it carries the visible character and quiet beauty of timeworn cloth. there is a fabulous mending opportunity at the end of this cloth, which should excite anyone working in the craft of boro. Thekatazomemark is a crest, and it is made using a rice paste resist, then dipping the piece into the indigo vat as many times as needed to achieve the correct shade of blue.
This particular piece is more of a deep teal background with the classic indigo blue vine pattern outlined in white over the top of it. It also has two wonderful repairs, and several small holes waiting to be repaired by you, adding your signature.
This collectible piece is looking for a new home, and there are some opportunities to add your own mending work to it so that it become your own, so that it evolves as boro should, through the organic mending of worn areas that occur naturally over time. This was likely part of a Noren or a futon cover.
I\'s a greener shade of indigo, so, more teal than deep indigo blue. There is are some gorgeous repairs present, and plenty of opportunities to add your own mending!
