Present an extremely rare and stunning Meissen Augustus Rex \"AR\" mark Porcelain covered custard cup, for Helena Wolfsohn, decorated with lovers motifs and gilding, highly collectible! Size: cup measures 3\'\' diameter x 2 1/4\'\' tall
Meissen Augustus Rex refers to a type of porcelain produced by the Meissen factory in Germany, which was established in 1710 and is known for producing some of the finest porcelain in Europe. Augustus Rex, or \"AR,\" is a mark that was used by the factory from around 1723 to 1730 to indicate that the porcelain was made during the reign of Augustus the Strong, who was the Elector of Saxony and King of Poland.
Meissen porcelain is highly prized by collectors and is known for its intricate designs, vivid colors, and fine craftsmanship. The Augustus Rex mark is particularly desirable among collectors, as it indicates that the piece was made during a specific period of the factory\'s history and is therefore more rare and valuable. Pieces marked with Augustus Rex are typically decorated with elaborate floral designs, scenes from mythology, or portraits of European aristocracy.
Helena Wolfsohn was a retailer of high-quality porcelain and decorative items during the 19th century in Dresden, Germany. She was known for selling items from some of the most prestigious porcelain manufacturers of the time, including Meissen, Sevres, and Vienna.
A custard pot is a small container, typically made of ceramic or porcelain, used for serving custard, a sweet dessert made from milk, sugar, and eggs. Custard pots can come in various shapes and sizes, but they are generally small and have a lid to keep the custard warm and protected.
Custard pots were popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly in Europe, where they were often used in high society settings for serving individual portions of custard. They were also commonly made in porcelain by famous factories such as Meissen, Sevres, and Wedgwood.Condition: in excellent vintage condition, with no chip, repair, crazing, or crack. Light wear with age and display. I want customers to be very satisfied with the items I sell. I do my best to describe each item\'s condition in detail.
