The items up for sale are "McCracken Smooth Arch R File," a device designed for organizing and storing prescriptions.
Purpose:
It functions as a file system for keeping prescriptions organized and easily accessible.
Mechanism:
Prescriptions are punched with two holes at the top and then filed over the metal arches, lying flat (face up) for permanent storage.
Usage:
To add prescriptions, the rear loops of the arches are unfastened and moved forward/center to clear the hooks.
Once filled, the rear wires of the arches are pressed forward to secure the prescriptions in place.
These date from the 1940’s - 1950’s
The file can be laid flat or hung up using the provided loop.
