Large nearly 11 lb fluorescent silica specimen from a private West Texas hydrothermal vein deposit featuring intense longwave and shortwave UV response with strong persistent phosphorescence.
Under 365nm longwave UV this specimen displays vivid multi-color fluorescence including saturated green zones, blue highlights, distinct yellow fluorescence, and warm orange reactive areas across a heavily mineralized matrix. Under 254nm shortwave UV the specimen becomes extremely bright with powerful green activation throughout multiple exposed seams and cavities.
This piece also exhibits strong phosphorescence, continuing to glow after the UV source is removed.
The specimen has exceptional cabinet-display presence with dramatic fluorescent vein structures running through darker contrasting matrix material. Several areas show highly reactive translucent silica/chalcedony with excellent depth and internal glow under UV illumination.
Classification:
• Spectral Apex
• Multi-color fluorescent behavior
• Strong LW and SW reactivity
• Heavy phosphorescence
• Large display-grade specimen
Weight:
• 10lb 15oz
Lighting Notes:
Photos were taken under 365nm longwave UV and 254nm shortwave UV lighting. Color intensity and appearance may vary depending on UV wavelength, filter quality, camera settings, and viewing conditions.
Locality information is intentionally kept private to protect the source deposit.
