Vintage/Early 20th Century Marzi & Remy #1620 German Beer Stein – “Abzug der Freier” / Departure of the SuitorsBeautiful and highly detailed German stoneware beer stein identified as Marzi & Remy model #1620, known as “Abzug der Freier” (Departure of the Suitors).This impressive stein stands approximately 12½ inches tall and features an elaborate medieval/renaissance figural scene with multiple figures, riders and detailed decoration.The ornate pewter lid is especially elaborate, with extensive raised scrollwork, decorative relief and an engraved inscription/verse.The number 1620 is impressed into the body, corresponding to the Marzi & Remy catalog/model number. The underside also has faint impressed markings.ConditionPre-owned/vintage condition consistent with age and use.The pewter lid shows age-related patina, oxidation/discoloration and surface wear, which can be seen in the photographs. The stoneware body also shows some age-related wear and rubbing to the decoration.Please examine all photographs carefully as they are considered part of the description.I have left the pewter in its aged condition and have not aggressively polished it.This is a substantial and highly decorative stein that would make an excellent addition to a German stein or Marzi & Remy collection.Please see all photos for the exact item and condition.
