Manganite (small cabinet) Ilfeld, Harztor - Thuringia, Germany Ex Clem Smith Collection 6.3 cm x 3.6 cm 3.5 cm From the famed manganese deposit in Ilfeld, Germany comes this highly aesthetic example of the ore that is rumored to be what was used for muranese Glassmaking in the 18th century. This piece is unlike most of the more classic single crystals or small bunches of crystals you can find on the market. It is a great example of the chaos of crystal growth in a locale as unique as the Harz Mountains. I recently curated this amongst other pieces in a recent trip to Tucson and can't wait to share more unique rarities!
