MCM 1960s West Indies Mahogany Spherical Bookends For Sale

Up for sale is a pair of Mid-Century Modern wooden bookends featuring a polished sphere mounted on an L-shaped base. The sticker indicates they are hand-crafted from solid Santo Domingo Mahogany (also noted as West Indian Mahogany), highly prized for its dense grain and beautiful natural polish.Overall finishes very good. There are some scrapes as shown in the pictures but mostly on the base is not the spheres.Manufactured by West Indies Mahogany, Inc., a company well-known for producing hand-crafted solid wood home accessories, trays, tableware, and souvenir items.Hand-crafted in San Juan, Puerto Rico.Based on the typography of the label and the architectural, clean-lined geometric aesthetic, these were produced during the mid-20th century, specifically circa the 1950s to 1960s.
