5.5” x 7.25”

Here’s a full transcription AND context for your letter from Lt. Col. Ulysses S. Grant III, dated November 12, 1933:

LT. COL. U. S. GRANT, 3RD.

2117 LEROY PLACE, N.W.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

November 12, 1933

Mr. John J. Rathmacher,

Treasurer, Δ Chapter Alumnae Assn.

370 Convent Ave., New York.

Dear Sir—

Many years ago I resigned from the Δ Chapter Alumnae Association. Apparently the amount of the bill just received for annual dues is therefore not due from me.

Very truly yours,

U. S. Grant

(Signature: U. S. Grant)

📝 What the Letter Is About

This is a brief, polite correction from Lt. Col. Ulysses S. Grant III (grandson of President Ulysses S. Grant) stating that he had resigned from the Delta Chapter Alumni Association years earlier and therefore did not owe the dues they billed him for.

It is essentially a “please remove me from your member dues list” letter.

Historical Significance
