For your consideration is a stunning collector’s lot of two (2) authentic antique Chinese overlay Peking glass snuff bottles with stands.This collection features magnificent multi-color cameo relief artistry and includes its original 1980s fine art gallery documentation. Both bottles in this lot retain their 100% original, fully intact organic applicator spoons, and both custom dark wood presentation display stands are included with this lot.
Please review all photos and ask any questions prior to purchase.Bottle 1: 3-Color Overlay Lotus Blossom (Fully Documented)• Craftsmanship: Carved 3-color glass overlay (vibrant emerald green, ruby red, and amber-yellow) raised in high relief on a classic milk-white glass ground. The neck collar features a meticulously carved green geometric key-fret border.
• The Motif: Auspicious lotus pond scene featuring unfurling lotus pads, a rising flower bud, and an amber-colored seed pod embedded with shimmering, metallic gold aventurine flecks.
• Stopper & Spoon: Capped with a smooth, honey-toned domed hardstone stopper top fitted with an intact cork and its completely original, dark carved organic applicator spoon.
Provenance: Pairs perfectly with its included handwritten gallery invoice dated March 21, 1986, from Connaisseur Antique Decoration (Lane Crawford House, Central, Hong Kong). The vintage invoice officially attributes this specific stock piece (#D-934) to the historic Chien Lung (Qianlong) era format, valued at US $250.00 in 1986.Bottle 2: Multi-Color Bird & Blossom "Snowflake" Glass• Craftsmanship: Multi-layered cameo relief carving utilizing a premium, heavily mottled "snowflake" glass base embedded with dense, glittering gold aventurine sparkles designed to mimic natural quartz.
• The Motif: Traditional "Birds and Blossoms" narrative. The carved white and deep amethyst-purple glass layers are shaved away to depict songbirds perched on winding branches and flying through scrolling foliage. The narrow shoulders are highlighted with molded mock animal-mask ring handles.
• Stopper & Spoon (100% Original & Intact): Capped with its authentic domed hardstone stopper. Features its original vintage hand-carved wooden applicator spoon, completely intact and pristine—a highly rare survival feature for a snowflake glass bottle of this era.
Unique provenance Feature: The underside of the foot ring still retains its original handwritten mid-1980s inventory paper gallery stock tag reading M P B 3 6 8 6 / $55.00 / N T R S F. While I have yet to match this piece to its original invoice I felt it should go with the other peking snuff bottle.Lot Details & Condition Report:• Condition: Excellent authentic antique condition. Both glass vessels are completely pristine and entirely free of modern structural cracks, glass chips, fractures, or restorations. The high-relief cameo carvings remain exceptionally crisp and detailed. The unglazed foot ring and mouth rims are beautifully smooth and preserved.
• Collector's Disclaimer & Maintenance Note (Earthquake Wax): Please note that these bottles were previously secured on display using a small amount of non-destructive museum/earthquake wax on their bases. While the wax has been gently cleaned off, minor negligible traces or a light waxy residue may still be present on the undersides of the vessels or on the display stands. This is easily removable if desired and does not affect the antique value or condition of the glass.
