London Farm Dairy Cream Clear Glass Milk Bottle Port Huron, Mich. For Sale

Cream Top" (or "Cop the Cream") style 1-quart milk bottle from London Farm Dairy in Port Huron1. "Cream Top" Bulbous Neck Design: Before homogenized milk became common in the mid-20th century, raw/pasteurized milk naturally separated, causing the heavy butterfat (cream) to rise to the top. The bulb at the top of the bottle was specially patented (often referred to as the "Cop the Cream" design) to trap the risen cream. A small spoon or separator device (often made of aluminum or plastic) could be inserted into the narrow neck, effectively sealing off the skim/whole milk below and allowing the thick cream to be poured out separately for coffee or whipping.2. Applied Color Labeling (ACL / Pyroglaze): Front: Reads "London Farm Dairy, Port Huron, Mich." in stylized black script.  Back Graphic: Features a classic mid-century graphic showing cream being poured into a teacup with the slogan: ACL printing was widely adopted by dairies starting in the 1930s and remained popular through the 1950s.3.
