The Lithuanian Pilgrims Community has published D. Liutikas’s book “Lithuanian Shrines in Postcards: Churches, Orthodox Churches, and Synagogues in the Landscapes of Towns and Cities.”

This book presents postcards depicting Lithuanian shrines – churches and Orthodox churches, synagogues, mosques and kenesas, chapels and roadside crosses, calvaries and Lourdes grottos. The publication communicates with the reader primarily through images reflecting the history of Lithuanian postcard publishing, which began in the late nineteenth century. The book contains as many as 3,400 thematic postcard images from the personal collection of Darius Liutikas. Some postcards of towns and cities are being published for the first time, giving many readers the opportunity to discover unique views of shrines that interest them. The book is relevant to everyone wishing to become acquainted with Lithuanian shrines and the development of their representation in postcards.

The postcards presented in the publication were issued between 1895 and 2025, making this book a visual chronicle of Lithuania’s sacred history, postcard design, and publishing. The postcards in the book are divided into five publishing periods:

• The oldest postcards, published before the First World War – 633 postcards.
• First World War period – 776 postcards.
• Interwar independent Lithuania period – 694 postcards.
• Soviet occupation period – 446 postcards.
• Independent Lithuania period – 851 postcards.
