Antique Key - Souvenir from Chicago Worlds Fair - Libby Prison Richmond Virginia Confederate Military Prison. Large antique key in very nice condition from late 1800s. Aprox 7” long x 3” wide.
Researched this piece and found this information: This is an old iron 19th century key. I believe it could be a souvenir from the early museum established in 1888 and erected in 1889 by the Libby Prison Museum Association called the "Great Libby Prison War Museum."
The Museum was moved to Chicago during the year of the Columbian Exposition (1893 World's Fair) and was highly profitable until 1899 when the venture was disbanded and the relics of the building were dispersed through Chicago's Historical Society.
