Antique & Vintage PhotographsLejari Tribe Nawab Coronation Balochi Men British India 1897 VTG Photo
This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 3½ x 3¼ inches (86x83mm).
It shows a group of people from the Lejari tribe, photographed outdoors in what appears to be an arid landscape. The subjects are dressed in traditional attire, including turbans and loose-fitting robes.
The reverse of the photograph has a handwritten pencil inscription that reads: "Some of the crowd at the Coronation of the Nawab of the Lejari Tribe - 16.1.97". This dates the image to 16th January 1897 and places the event in British India, in an area inhabited by the Balochi Lejari people.
