Butter Pat built its reputation by creating exceptionally smooth modern cast iron reminiscent of the beautifully finished antique pans collectors prize. That manufacturing heritage is immediately evident here: the interior and sidewalls are remarkably smooth, without the coarse, pebbled texture commonly found on mass-produced cast iron.
YETI achieves this refined surface using a specialized ceramic-like mold instead of a conventional sand mold. The result is an extraordinarily clean, smooth casting that requires no synthetic nonstick coating. It comes factory pre-seasoned and will develop an even slicker cooking surface with continued use and proper care.
Substantial—but Intelligently Cast
This large 6-quart pan weighs approximately 8.45 pounds and feels reassuringly solid without being needlessly bulky.
The sidewalls are only slightly thicker than a U.S. nickel—approximately 2mm—yet the pan is reinforced where strength and heat retention matter most. It offers the durability and heat-holding ability expected from premium cast iron while remaining practical enough for regular cooking.
Its generous depth, wide base and dual pour spouts allow it to function as a:
- Deep skillet
- Braising pan
- Sauté pan
- Frying pan
- Roasting pan
- Shallow Dutch oven
- Bread-baking vessel
- Campfire cooker
It is ideal for searing steaks, braising meat, frying chicken, simmering chili or stew, roasting vegetables, baking bread and preparing complete one-pan meals.

Butter Pat Heritage
This pan’s greatest selling point may be what lies behind the YETI name.
YETI acquired Butter Pat Industries, a small American manufacturer renowned among serious cooks and cast-iron enthusiasts for its unusually refined casting techniques. Butter Pat sought to recreate the smooth cooking surfaces and carefully controlled thickness found in desirable antique cookware.
The Ranch Pan is part of that premium cast-iron lineage. Its smooth surface is not a sprayed-on nonstick treatment—it is the result of the specialized casting and finishing process itself. That makes this a particularly appealing piece for someone who appreciates traditional American cast iron but wants a brand-new, ready-to-use pan.
Condition
Brand new, never used and still in its original box.
The pan has never been cooked in. Its factory seasoning remains clean and intact, and the exceptionally smooth cooking surface presents beautifully.
The original YETI box and interior fitted packaging are included. The box may display extremely minor handling or storage evidence, but the cookware itself is unused.
Importantly, the attractive original YETI box will not be used as the exposed mailing carton. The complete boxed pan will be carefully packed inside an additional sturdy shipping box to protect both the pan and its original packaging during transit.
A serious, beautifully cast piece of American cookware—smooth enough to evoke prized vintage cast iron, versatile enough to replace several conventional pans, and stoutly constructed to serve for generations.
