Large Original RAY-MOND Voodoo Show Poster Hand Painted - 1950s Ghost Horror: $575.00
RARE Large Original Ray-Mond “Voo-Doo Show” Hand-Painted Ghost Show Theater Poster / Sign, 1950s Magic and Horror “Show of 1001 Horrors” - Spook Show This is a large (56\"x38\") vintage hand-painted theater poster for Ray-Mond’s “Voo Doo Show,” the magic-and-horror midnight spook show he toured in the 1950s. It’s a one-of-a-kind lobby board with Ray-Mond’s name in bold lettering, built to be reused at each stop on the circuit. Ray-Mond’s Voodoo Show - Ray-Mond (Raymond Corbin) was one of the leading ghostmasters of the post-war spook show era
- The Voo Doo Show followed his “Zombie’s Jamboree” and toured theaters around 1953–54
- It was billed as a stage full of blood-spattered thrills, with monsters and ghouls running loose through the audience
- The board’s line “Ghosts and Ghouls Leave the Stage and Sit With You!” appears word for word in Ray-Mond’s 1954 newspaper promotion for the show
Built for the Road - Painted panels at upper right for the date, door time, and show time, filled in for each engagement
- A “Plus on the Screen” panel at the bottom for that night’s feature film
- “One Show Only,” “Tickets on Sale Now,” and “Avoid Standing in Line” for the theater’s advance sale
Provenance - Purchased from an estate sale in Pennsylvania, together with a hand-painted Ray-Mond “Zombie’s Jamboree” board dated to September 1951 (also listed)
- Both boards are painted on matching board stock
- Likely from an Ohio or Pennsylvania theater that booked Ray-Mond’s shows more than once
Details - Hand-lettered in cream, yellow, white, and red on a black ground
- “On the Stage / Show of 1001 Horrors / ‘Ray-Mond’ and His Terrifying Voo Doo Show”
- Approximately 56.25\" × 38.75\", a large display piece
Condition: - See photos for accurate representation of overall condition.
- Numerous tears, rips, scuffs and marks on poster / board.
- Image / promo missing from where the movie name would normally appear.
Why It Matters - It’s hand-painted and unique, not a printed stock poster
- Ray-Mond is named in large letters on the board itself
- It’s a large-scale artifact of the midnight spook show, a forerunner of the midnight movie
- It appeals to magic memorabilia, ghostmaster, horror, and theater collectors
- It makes a dramatic Halloween display piece with real spook show history
Shipping - Ships folded (as it was stored originallY) and flat, professionally packed with rigid backing via UPS Ground
- Local pickup available in the NY/NJ area
