Exceptional natural Iron Cross twin pyrite crystal from the famous Gachalá mining district of Colombia. This specimen displays the classic penetration twin of two intergrown pyritohedrons, creating the distinctive “Iron Cross” geometry prized by mineral collectors.
Unlike many examples that are incomplete or heavily damaged, this specimen is complete and well-formed, with sharp geometric faces and excellent three-dimensional symmetry. The crystal carries the natural dark goethite coating commonly seen on Colombian Iron Cross twins, giving it a dramatic sculptural appearance while preserving the underlying crystal form.
At 258 grams, this is a substantial cabinet specimen that displays beautifully from every angle.
A true “crystal model” specimen—its striking geometry makes it look carved, yet every face and intersection is entirely natural.
